German Exchange

Our school has formed a link with a school in Germany. So far we have sent them letters and books as gifts. In return they gave us some letters from the pupils in the school.

At Christmas time they gave us a cake called a Stollen, which is a mixture between fruitcake and Christmas cake. They also gave us two smoking men, which they make by hand in Germany.

Smoking men work by an incense stick that you put inside the man, when it has started to burn the smoke will come out of his mouth.

This year we hope the head teacher of the German school will visit us in England!
Last year our head teacher, Mrs Hunter visited the school in Germany and had a great time.

In our class we have German lessons every Thursday, which involves learning new German words and counting in German and learning
to speak to other people.

About our village

On The Other Side of the World

New Zealand is made up of two different Islands the North Island and the South Island. A man called Abel Tasman first discovered it in 1642.

The people who live there are called Maoris. You can visit their special homes and churches where they will put on their national costumes. These are made up of beautiful bird feathers and they will perform their national dances, which are very exciting to watch. You can also listen to their music, which is played on hand-made instruments.

If you were to visit New Zealand you would have to fly for nearly 24 hours as it is on the other side of the world. When you get there you would find the weather very warm. The capital city is called Auckland. Auckland is a very busy city, and also a busy port where you can sail around different islands.
