Amon

Amon (sometimes called Amun, Ammon or Amen) was the king of the gods and patron of the pharaohs. Amun was a male figure and was sometimes shown with a ram’s head. He was also identified as Amun-Re the god of creation depending on which part of Egypt you were in. He always carried a king’s sceptre and an ankh. An ankh was a sign meaning life. Only gods and kings who had power over life and death carried ankhs. There was a temple to him in every town but there was a huge temple built to him in Karnak. Amon’s festival lasted a month during the flood season.
