Hathor

Hathor (Athyr) was the goddess of love, beauty and joy. She was the protector of women. Hathor came from the eye of Ra (Re) the sun god. She wore a sun disk and cow’s horns. Sometimes she had a cow’s head. Hathor was the wife of Horus. She carried the ankh, the symbol of life, and a staff. Hathor was also the goddess of mines, particularly turquoise mines. Hathor was especially worshipped at the temple of Denderah in Upper Egypt.
