Sekhmet (or Sekhet) was the goddess of war. Re the sun god created her to kill the people who disobeyed him. Eventually she turned on the good people, so he turned her into Hathor the goddess of love. Sekhmet she had the body of a woman and a lioness’ head. Sekhmet was feared and worshipped in many places. She sent the messengers of death and was responsible for plagues. She was the wife of Ptah and regarded as the bringer of destruction to the enemies of Re.
