Sobek
|
| Sobek (sometimes known as Sebek, Sebeq, Sobk or Suchos) was the god of the waters, protector of reptiles and patron of kings. The Nile was said to be his sweat. He had the head of a crocodile, the body of man and wore a solar disk. In his temple at Kom Ombo priests kept crocodiles in a large pond. Some of the crocodiles wore gold earrings and even had their nails painted gold. When the crocodiles died they were mummified and buried in a large tomb. |
