| Heracles Visits Oracle | ||
| Yesterday
superhero Heracles, following the tragic murder of his wife and children, went to see the
all-knowing Oracle at Delphi for urgent help. The wise one told him to work hard for his
cousin, Eurystheus, for twelve long years.
The priestess told us, "He was very sorry for what he did to his family and he doesnt know how it happened. Be that as it may, he must pay for his crime. Only by completing the labours set by Eurystheus can he rid himself of his guilt. His reward for the completion of the tasks may be greater than he imagines." Heracles said, "As you know I have been sent to my cousin King Eurystheus to complete twelve basically impossible labours. Perhaps this will make amends for what I have done." As most of the Greek population know King Eurystheus is a cowardly, mean and greedy man. He is also extremely jealous of his cousins fame and strength. Rumours are going around Greece that Hera has visited the king at night telling him the labours to give to Heracles. |
The Oracle of Delphi
No doubt they are cooking up some surprises! King
Eurystheus, at his palace in Tyrins, was not sympathetic towards Heracles yesterday. He
told us, "I think he deserves this punishment because of the terrible things he did
to his family. You can be sure that the tasks I set him will break his back and test his
strength to the full."
