Mars

Mars, known as the red planet because of its dusty red surface, is the 4th planet from the Sun being 142,000,000 miles from it. It is the most explored planet (except Earth) in the Solar System. Mars has a tilt of 24° which gives it seasons like Earth. Its atmosphere is carbon dioxide and although it is covered in ice and snow this is carbon dioxide too. The surface is volcanic, with many deep craters and it has valleys. This is all because it has highly active plates in its thick crust. Mars also has high sand dunes. 2 moons orbit Mars; Phobos and Deimos. Its day is 24 hours and 37 minutes and its year, the time it takes to orbit the Sun, is 687 Earth days.
