Ships Destroyed by Giants!

Odysseus has lost his fleet of ships! They were destroyed yesterday by the giants of Laestrygonia. Only his own ship sails on. All seemed well when the Greek ships were blown onto a strange island which nobody had discovered until now. Little did Odysseus and his men realise the danger they were in.

He sent three brave soldiers to search the island. Everything was giant-sized. The insects came up to their elbows. The plants were huge. They walked on and found people but they were giants too! The king of the giants promptly picked one of the men up and ate him! The other two men quickly returned to Odysseus with the news.

Odysseus, upon hearing the news, ordered his men to get in the boats and sail away as quickly as they could. Unfortunatly the Laestrygonianian’s showed up on the shore and as soon as the giants saw the ships they started picking up rocks and throwing them.

Athena protected Oysseus’s ship by sending a mist so that he could escape. Odysseus’s vessel was the only one that didn’t get smashed. All the men from the other ships were swept ashore, collected in a bag and then taken away to be eaten. Now Odysseus will have to get back with just the one boat.
