Pluto

Pluto is the smallest planet in the Solar System. It is 500 times smaller than Earth. It has a very cold temperature of -230° C. It takes Pluto approximately 248 years to orbit the Sun. Usually Pluto is the furthest planet away from the Sun, but every 248 years, Pluto's orbit brings it closer to the Sun than Neptune. Because of this, Pluto's and Neptune's orbits overlap. Pluto has one moon, Charon, and no rings. Pluto is 3,674,000,000miles away from the sun, and approximately 1,491miles in diameter. Scientists have begun to reconsider whether or not Pluto is really a planet or whether it was really once a moon that had slipped out of orbit from one of the other planets. It was only discovered in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh, an astronomer in America.
