The scarab is a beetle that lives in the
Egyptian desert. He pushes a ball of dung ahead of him as he moves, and the ancient
Egyptians linked the ball with the sun. The scarab was the smallest of the sacred animals
and scarabs of semi-precious stones and faience were used as seals and as good luck
charms. Green scarabs were wrapped up in the mummys bandages and used to represent
its heart.
