Mount Fuji

Hi there! Here I am by Mount Fuji, the tallest mountain in Japan. It is 3,776 metres (12,388 feet) tall. Mount Fuji is a dormant volcano since it last erupted in 1707. According to tradition the volcano was formed in 287 BC by an earthquake. Mount Fuji appears to be a simple cone-type volcano; it is really three separate volcanoes called Komitake, Ko Fuji and Shin Fuji. The most recent volcano, Shin Fuji, first became active about 10,000 years ago and has continued ever since to smoulder or erupt occasionally.
