Jerusalem

Hi there! Here I am in Jerusalem, Israel. Jerusalem is a beautiful capital city with a long history. Jerusalem is a centre of pilgrimage for people of different religions including Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It has many ancient buildings, religious sites and bazaars. The walls of the old city were built in 1542. Jerusalem was divided under Israeli and Jordanian rule until the Six Day War in 1967 when Israel occupied the whole city. One of the most beautiful sights in the city is the Dome of the Rock. Muslims believe this gold-domed building was built of the rock from which Muhammad rose to heaven. Jews believe it is the place where Abraham prepared to sacrifice his son, Isaac.
