Mecca

Hi there! Here I am standing by the al-Haram Mosque in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. I have had a look around the place and found out some facts about the history of this famous city. Mecca is found to the west of the country, south of Medina. This city is very important to the Muslim religion because it is where Muhammad was born more than 1,400 years ago. Muhammad was the founder of Islam. Mecca is a city of worship and Muslim people come to see the mosque which contains the Kaaba (the holiest Islamic shrine) which holds the famous Black Stone. Made from granite, it is said to have been given to Abraham by the angel Gabriel.  Some people just come here to kiss it.
