Sahara Desert

Hi there! Here I am by an oasis in the Sahara Desert, in Algeria, Northern Africa. The Sahara Desert is the largest desert in the world. The area of it is more than 3.5 million square miles. It covers one third of all Africa. A oasis is an area within a desert where there is enough water for trees and plants to grow. Oases vary in size from small ponds surrounded by a few palm trees to areas of hundreds of square kilometres which support large towns and some farming. The water which forms the basis of a oasis comes from springs or wells underground.
