Baboushka is the giftbringer in Russia. She is the old woman who gave food and shelter to the Three Kings. They asked her to go with them to Bethlehem to see the new king. She said that she’d follow later. Baboushka got to Bethlehem but Jesus had left with Mary and Joseph. Now she searches everywhere for the baby and at Christmas time every time Baboushka sees a sleeping child she leaves a toy from her basket. Then she carries on with her never-ending journey.
