Christmas in Denmark

"Glaedelig Jul"
In Denmark, on each Sunday in Advent, candles are lit on the Advent crown. On Christmas Eve the father of each family decorates the Christmas tree with white ornaments and candles. No one is allowed to see the tree until after the Christmas meal of roast goose. Then the whole family go in to see the tree and open their presents.

The adults' Christmas drink is red wine with spices or raisins, while the children drink sweet fruit juice and eat small cakes made from batter. Children also enjoy gingerbread in the shape of a house. An almond is hidden in the Christmas pudding and the person who finds it receives a large marzipan pig.
