Christmas in Egypt

"I'd Miilad Said Oua Sana Saida"
In Egypt Christians celebrate Christmas on 7th December. Advent is a time of fasting and lasts for 40 days. On Christmas Eve, after midnight mass, a special Christmas meal called fata is eaten. This consists of bread, rice, garlic and boiled meat. On Christmas morning they visit friends and take kaik (a sort of shortbread) as a gift. Being a hot, desert country Santa Claus comes on a camel!
