Christmas in Spain

"Feliz Navidad"
Christmas in Spain begins on Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) and lasts until Kings Day on 6th January. The Spanish children don't get any presents until this date and are certain that The Three Kings come and give them their presents. The children take off their shoes and leave barley in them for their very tired camels. A star is placed in the window of every house to attract The Wisemen.

Children and grown-ups often kneel around the Nacimiento (crib) during the Christmas season to worship the Christ child. Sometimes they sing and dance to the sound of tambourines. On Christmas Day Puchero Olla, a special dish of chicken, beef, mutton, pigs feet, bacon and garlic, is served.
