Christmas in Yugoslavia

"Cestitamo Bozic"
Yugoslavians who live in the country are very superstitious. They fear bad luck if their Christmas log burns out and so someone has to stay up all Christmas night to make sure it doesn't go out. The Christmas dinner (a roast pig) must be carved in a particular way. People eat a special Christmas cake called chestnitsa and whoever gets the gold or silver coin hidden inside will have good luck.
There is a crib in most houses at Christmas time lined with moss gathered in the forest. Old-fashioned music boxes that play Christmas carols are a popular decoration.
