Sharing our success
I was
delighted to accept an invite to Downing Street earlier
this month to attend a reception for Head Teachers of
schools that have seen continued success in recent
years. I was very privileged to be one of around a
hundred or so guests invited from all over the UK. I was
even more fortunate to share a small private audience
with the Prime Minister who, despite government
troubles, was keen to spend time praising what schools
were doing in helping raise standards. Whatever your
political persuasion, I was impressed by how genuine Mr
Blair was in showing interest in our work. I also had
the opportunity to meet the new Secretary of State, Alan
Johnson, who was looking forward to his remit.
Year 11
The
final assembly for Year 11 was held recently. It was a
splendid affair, with presentations and musical
entertainment. Revision classes are being held and
formal exams have started. It is an anxious time for our
students (and their parents!) but we wish them every
success. We all look forward to sharing their results in
August. Before then, of course, our annual leavers ball
is scheduled for mid-July. Let us hope that summer has
arrived by then!
In general….
If you
have any comments, questions or suggestions about our
education programme please let us know. I am always
appreciative of the strong bond which exists between
home and school.
