Welcome to all our friends and supporters. Many thanks again to everyone who has made our new centre a reality. We've survived our first winter here relatively warm and leak-free, and what a difference to the draughty Portacabins we worked in at the old site!

ACE Centre Open Days
We hold regular Open Days for interested supporters who would like to visit our centre. It's a chance to see demonstrations of assistive technology, meet the staff, and hear about new projects. Do contact us if you'd like details of the next one.

Up and Running!
On a blustery but dry day in April 1999, HRH Princess Anne officially opened the new ACE Centre after the hard work of our many supporters and friends had raised an amazing total of over £836,000 for the building and the equipment we needed. We are now happily installed and working well in the new Wooden Spoon building, named in appreciation of the Wooden Spoon Society who donated £300,000 towards the cost of the appeal. The picture shows HRH Princess Anne meeting Hayley, one of the many young people the Centre has helped. The Princess was given a tour of the new building and watched demonstrations of the latest devices and developments in the field of communication technology.

Well Deserved Honour
Everyone here was delighted to hear that Prue Fuller, the founding Director of the ACE Centre, has received an MBE for services to special needs education. Naturally, Prue is not twiddling her thumbs in retirement - in fact she is busier than ever! She is currently in her second year as the President of ISAAC (the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and she has visited many countries during her time in office. She continues to have an interest in special educational needs, which keeps her very firmly involved with issues surrounding children and education. She became a Trustee of the ACE Centre after her retirement so she is still very much in touch with our work here.
