| Hotspots is a package to enable switch users easy access to software that is primarily designed for mouse operation and for which the active, on-screen, buttons are fixed. Although this may appear to be a very restricted group of programs, there are a number of important types of applications that have these characteristics and for which Hotspots provides a very simple and effective means of control. Hotspots is available as shareware for both Windows and Archimedes, or you can purchase a registered copy for the Archimedes which includes a valuable resource pack. | |

| Hotspots enables a teacher, an assistant or other helper to define a series of points on the screen that the mouse needs to visit. Once defined, the user can then scan through those points and by operating their switch at the right time, generate a mouse click on the appropriate spot and thereby control the application.
Suitable software includes many computer-based books where next page and previous page buttons are in fixed locations. Some MyWorld screens are suitable, as are some on-screen calculators or CD player control panels. Hotspots is not a general purpose keyboard or mouse emulator, and cannot be used where mouse dragging or double clicking is required or where the mouse needs to be moved under the control of the user. next >> |
