Multimedia Plocka V1.1 (Windows)
<< Back to Software Index  |  Plocka specifications
A powerful range of facilities and functions, enhanced by the power of graphics, sound and video can be harnessed and used by the teacher in many different ways, from simple shape and colour matching to the creation of complex adventures.
Sample Plocka screen
Plocka uses the principle of objects and targets. On-screen shapes, pictures or text are scanned and selected with switches or the keyboard. Once selected, these choices are automatically moved to chosen target areas. Many variations of this principle are possible and may be easily exploited. The designer, teacher or therapist, has full control over the nature and complexity of the tasks.

A common and frustrating aspect of switch software is the limited subject material which is often only suitable for young children. One of the most appealing features of Multimedia Plocka is the flexibility of its content: a wide ranging picture library enables the selection of shapes that are age-appropriate - animals, trees, clothes, transport, food... almost anything. Other pictures may be added from your own clip art libraries, scanned images or photo-CD. In addition, Plocka offers output to a speech synthesiser and/or real recorded sound to aid and motivate students, prompting responses and indicating switch actions, helping to make tasks easier and more interesting. Even video sequences or animations can be added to give stimulating rewards.

Plocka Resources
The program comes complete with a set of introductory Plocka screens, which complement the main Plocka program. They consist of ready-made screens and activities including cause and effect, numbers, matching, sequencing, games, language and sorting. A tutorial guide on how to modify these screens is also included. This will give you the experience and confidence to create your own pages. We will continue to support the program with new resources.
