The success of CATCHNET and the Loan Library Project has encouraged the Centre to embark on this ambitious new remote support project. TELENET will evaluate the extent to which current service provision in the field of Assistive Technology can be improved by using mainstream telecommunication technologies such as point-to-point computer linking and videoconferencing. TELENET’s aim will be to establish and thoroughly evaluate an alternative model for providing assessment, support and training services to those working with children who have severe physical and communication difficulties. Three local education authority teams will participate in the project. The University of Birmingham will supervise its evaluation.
