My first car.

My very first car was a Primrose yellow Fiat 127 Mk1 'Special' which I bought for the princely sum of £600 in early April 1982. This was the car I learned to drive in (on the road) over four or so months until I passed my test in September that year. This was also the car that opened my eyes to the world of Fiats, a world where superior engineering reigned supreme and quality control had'nt even been thought of, so much so that a visit to the dealers for spares was almost unheard of as there was such a stock of cars at the scrap yard !. My car was however a 'P' plate '76 car and was strangely un-rusty for its year and went very well indeed with its 45hp 903cc pushrod engine..... a little too well perhaps. Rather unfortunately I wrote the car off in a somewhat scary and spectacular accident about three months after passing my test (oops!).


Sadly I can't find any pictures of this car as I owned it before my visit to the scenery, the pics show that Fiat were making safe cars even back then, safe..... even when put through this sort of test !
