The Mk1 Fiat Panda with its 903cc push-rod engine was my fourth choice of car, in its day the Panda was a major leap forward in design innovation as far as small cars were concerned, the most memorable design feature being the seating and its ability to fold flat to form an uncomfortable bed or form a handy bottle carrier etc, etc.
Owning this car was one of those decisions that you look back on later and say "why the hell did I do that ?" for a while it was fun and seemed a good idea but that soon wore off. The performance after the 127 was lesser, the ride was harsh to say the least and although it had a fairly good Clarion stereo, it just did'nt cut it as far as I was concerned. I still found time to have a fair bit of fun in this car (including a holiday in Wales) but I think this one holds the record for my shortest ownership at 3 months more performance was required and although I remember looking into the tuning possibilities for this car the writing was on the wall, another more powerful 127 beckoned.
