Wheel & Tyre Options

By far the easiest way to make your Cinquecento a little more exclusive is to replace the standard alloys, nowadays the choice of aftermarket wheels is to say the least bewildering but does allow a certain individuality to be applied to your car. One point that I have learned since writng this website is that if you are fitting wider wheels to a standard non-sporting Cinquecento a lowering kit must be added as part of the upgrade, this is a Fiat recommendation and will avoid any sharp-cornering (elk test) induced rollover problems similar to those suffered by early Mercedes A-class cars.

The manufacturers standard fitment is :
Tyre 165/55X13 Wheel 5.5X13 Offset 29mm
The standard tyre fitment is available from two manufacturers only, those being Pirelli (P700) and Goodyear (Eagle NCT).

The options are :
Tyre 175/50X13 Wheel 5.5X13
Tyre 185/60X13 Wheel 5.5X13 or 6X13
Tyre 195/55X13 Wheel 6X13
Tyre 175/50X14 Wheel 5.5X14 (Standard fitment on Seicento Sporting with Abarth pack)
Tyre 185/50X14 Wheel 5.5X14 or 6X14
Tyre 195/45X14 Wheel 6X14 or 6.5X14
Tyre 195/45X15 Wheel 6.5X15

All of the above combinations should fit without arch modifications if you know otherwise let me know and I will put a note against that particular size in the list. One dimension that should always be ridgidly adhered to with 13" wheels is the offset, the standard 29mm and not 32mm as fitted by Fiat to nearly all of its other front wheel drive vehicles is there for a reason and if you change from this you will alter many things and could quite easily end up with a worse handling car than before even though you now have wider wheels and tyres fitted ! Obviously this does not apply to larger fitments the only advice I can offer is to 'suck it and see' to achieve the ideal fitment for your car. Some wheel and tyre fitments may require arch mods, some wheel suppliers will let you "try before you buy" so they would be the best place to go for a fitting session.

Another thing to remember is that by moving to larger tyre sizes your speedometer readings will suffer, all of the sizes above (bar one) will result in your speedo reading lower than your actual velocity.... you have been warned !!! however it is rumoured that most Sportings have a 10% inaccuracy in their speedo reading this is known to vary from car to car and cannot therefore be relied upon, go to my links page for the site that will tell you all you need to know on tyre size changes or alternatively select this link.
