Berks Bonanza - May 7th 2007

The weather seemed to be a repeat of last year - rain overnight but with the promise of sunshine later.

Months of advanced preparation had once again culminated in everything coming together on the day. The track had been carefully re-positioned and marked out, the grass cut and rolled and the hundreds of wooden posts knocked in and roped up by the hardworking setup team. The off-track starting was a bit different this year, but proved popular with the riders.

The finishing touches were added over the weekend - with flags and bunting, catering tents and marquees, toilets and PA systems slotting in to place, all adding to this picturesque setting and making it yet another event to be truly proud of supported by top grasstrack riders from all over the country, along with an excellent turnout of thousands of spectators.

Although the weather was cloudy and a bit wet as the practice sessions got under way, the day gradually brightened up and the track dried out, resulting in some keenly contested heats and finals, which finished in glorious sunshine and plenty of dust!
