Maria chases the boys !

Despite a freezing cold day 36 competitors turned up for the North Berks 2nd Round Club Championship Trial at the ever faithful Seymour's Arena. What a good servant Seymour's Arena is to the North Berks Club. Only 3 weeks ago all the top country's riders were competing there as part of the Wallace Cup Novogar Round, but the venue is such that it can be flexible for all abilities. Riders said on Sunday what an enjoyable day it had been and to quote Maria's words "a flowing course".

Many thanks to those involved in setting it out during the previous week. It was a good job that the club had organised a hot dog van who was busy selling bacon baps and hot drinks to counteract the chill.

There was no stopping Alexz Wigg who rode the 4 laps of 8 section course losing no marks. Runner up was another celebrity, Maria Conway. I wonder what its like to be beaten by a girl? Third was Stuart Robinson, Alexz Wigg's minder, who was sponsored for the day on one of Alexz's bikes, 4th David Pratt, 5th Joe Harris.

In the Clubman C class Justin Heavens managed to nick the top spot from the veteran Kevin McCullagh, 3rd was the club's IT man, Steve Thomas. (Thanks to Julian Wigg supplying a new spark plug to get his bike going!)

Will McBain won the Youth A class losing only 10 marks which would have given him 3rd overall if he'd been riding as expert, 2nd Michael Powdrell, 3rd Joe Bayliss.

Youth B was a close fought class won by Matt Powdrell, 2nd George Hayes a young promising rider, followed by the Fletcher trio, Ross, Jordan and Jake.
