Hot on the Moors

Mist was evident when the riders arrived at The Moors, East Hagbourne for Round 3 of the North Berks Club Championship, but by start time it was heading to be the hotest day of the year.

The course consisted of 8 sections, 4 laps. Despite the hot conditions, wet black mud was found in section 1 which caught most of the entry. Maria Conway was best on this section only losing 4, David Pratt and Joe Harris, the eventual winner, both lost 6. Joe only losing another 2 marks all day putting him on a total of 8 to win the expert class, from Maria on 12, and David on 25.

Clubman B class was a Faulkner witch hunt: Rob well known as an enduro rider lost 10, his son Scott, winner of last year's British Enduro Clubman class lost 11, and his uncle Gordon who has only just returned to trials riding lost 23.

Clubman C was close at the top, Justin Heavens on 25, Steve Thomas 28, and Mick Bayliss on 39.

Youth A: Will McBain came out on top of this class again on 22, Joe Bayliss some way behind on 58.

Youth B: the 3 Fletcher brothers from Oxford took 1st, 2nd and 3rd in this class.

Youth C: Tom Matthews just pipped Alex Muirhead by 1 mark to nick the top spot. Tom O'Sullivan was 3rd, with Neil Dodd 4th.

No one wanted to go home at the end of the day, the temperature was now 23 and everyone was enjoying the early summer.
