North Berks Bonanza SuperTrial 2010

We are pleased to announce that Sunday August 8th 2010 has been agreed for the 3rd Annual 'North Berks Bonanza Supertrial'.

Stuart is planning a completely radical new section, with construction starting at the end of May, and there are more rocks on order to help make the other sections more spectacular.

He's also speaking to all the top riders to ensure that things are as exciting as ever. Details of which riders are competing will be updated here as they get signed up.

Course Layouts for this Year's Trials
We now have a 'Beginners' route, as well as the usual A, B and C routes. These are marked out with green flags, to provide a nice easy route for some of our younger novice riders.

We will also have a '50:50' option for 'intermediate' riders looking to move up from the B route, allowing them to gain experience gradually of selected A route sections as appropriate.

Round 2 - Club Trial - Sunday April 11th 2010
The 2nd Round of the 2010 Club Championship took place at Chilton Hollow, a venue that had not been used for club events for the last 10 years due to landfill on this disused Didcot to Newbury railway line. With its steep banks which are used in the Wallace Cup every year, and the general terrain make it an ideal place for this type of event catering for a large age range.

4 laps of 8 sections had been plotted for this dry spring morning. 60 riders signed on to support the event. Looking at the entry list top names such as Rob Warner, Alan Ayres and Will McBain would be looking for the top spot and this trio did not drop a single mark between them which resulted in a 3 way tie in the expert class.

In the clubman 50/50 class section 3 was the bogus section and it caught everyone in this class, but the winner was out on his own with only 6 marks lost. Clubman B riding the B course was won by Justin Heavens being sponsored for the day on clerk of the course Stewart Robinson's bike, using just 5 marks, half the marks lost by second place man Stefan Walters on 10 marks lost, 3rd place Sam Cherry on 14.

Clubman C riding the C course was won by Kevin Miller who also went round losing no marks, 2nd and 3rd places being contested by two old timers, Kevin McCullagh losing 2 and Paul Wickson on 6 marks lost. Youth 50/50 Adam Webb took the win on 3 marks lost.

Youth A, the only rider of this class, Jordan Fletcher, lost 17 marks. If Jordan had been riding amongst the experts it would have put him way up the list. Youth B, Thomas O'Sullivan, lost unlucky for some 13, from Carl Shirley 24, from Daniel Hornblow on 25. The Youth D class, the Robinson sisters took 1st and 2nd places, Leah 1st, Alicia 2nd and Oscar Jones taking 3rd place.

Everyone finished the morning with smiling faces, so obviously enjoyed by all. The sun was just breaking through on this old venue brought back into use thanks to the supportive landowner. The next event is the 2 day weekend, a date provisionally set, for 17th & 18th July at the popular Bessellsleigh venue.
