Allan's Primary School is situated in a busy town in Scotland. We have 220 pupils & 40 Nursery children. We have classes Primary 1-7 and have 11 teachers and 4 specialist teachers for Art, P.E and Support for Learning.
Allan's Primary School runs many after school/lunch time clubs. These include Performing Arts , ICT, Girls' Football ,Music and many more. Lots of children attend these clubs. We feel that these clubs give us skills and confidence to help us in
everyday life. We'd like to thank the staff who run our clubs.
We have an effective house system. There are four houses - Cowane, Buchanan, Mar & Spittal. Each house has a different colour.
Pupils earn house points by producing good work, good behaviour and being tidy.
Every fortnight the pupils who gain the most points from each class receive a certificate to reward them for their hard work. They also are given a prize of rubber/pencil. We all think that our house system is a fair and fun way to reward everyone for their hard work!!
Our Primary 7 class has a super buddy system, which allows us to look after the pupils in Primary 1. This helps the Primary 1 children gain more confidence in the playground and our dining hall. The buddies (big and small) think it's a great idea! When a new pupil arrives, he/she is given another member from the class to help them settle in.
We do many different subjects such as Language, Maths, French, Environmental Studies, Expressive Art, PSD, RME and ICT. We do lots of fun activities in school. We think learning is fun!!!
Allan's Primary has an active pupil council. We play an important part in the decision making process in the school. The pupil council also acts as a communication link between the pupils and the staff.
At the moment, the pupil council are discussing the U.N. Convention - the Rights of the Child. These rights include:-
the right to our own privacy: the right to speak our own language and practise our own religion.
The pupil council represents our pupils in various strategy groups. For instance we are involved in the Playground Committee and the PSD working group.
The pupil council have been given £2000 as a budget to refurbish the pupils' toliets because they are dire.
We are lucky to have a computer suite in our school. Each class visits the suite twice a week and they work on basic computing skills.
Our ICT club meet every Tuesday lunchtime and we work on lots of different ICT skills. We have designed this web page and we up-date our page every Tuesday.
The computer club was asked to present a short talk on web design to teachers!!
Pupils from P5 did a presentation at Riverside ICT Learning Centre to various delegates from The Children In Scotland Conference "Spend, Spend, Spend". The picture below is of our P5 pupils tutoring the delegates!!
We can also e-mail using video conferencing.
Allan's is the best school in the universe!!!!!
