Welcome to
The Pepperbox Hill Guardians' Website

This  website is managed by the children of  Whiteparish,  All Saints School.  It tells you about Pepperbox Hill, such ass which animals live there, which plants grow there and the history of the site.

About the Project

We are part of a National Trust CGU Guardianship Project. This means that the site at Pepperbox Hill is owned by the National Trust and we help to look after it.  This involves clearing space for new plants by cutting down trees which are blocking away light and stopping any plants growing.  The logs are piled up so minibeasts can still live there.  We burn the little twigs and branches that come off the logs.  After  a while "weeds" start to grow.  After a few years some rare of just interesting plants begin to take over and the transformation from an area of  'not a lot' to an area full of plant life is complete.  We also pick up litter, make observations and draw pictures of what we see.

This is the certificate which we get at the end
of a year.

One of our famous bonfires!
The yew has been chopped down and we are burning the branches.  In a few years we should see plants growing here.
