(Only go to the Merry and Pippin's
or Willow and Flora's pages if you really
like cats, as there are lots of pictures which may take a while to load)
Please do not look at this page if you
feel that pets are of little significance. This page is here to make use of the
Internet's vastness and indulgence to share fond memories, in our case of our cats.
We
notice that there are others with similar thoughts and who have similar pages of
their own. Perhaps they will understand our motivations the most.
Willow and Flora are two rescue cats who
are becoming more adorable every day. They have been timid and have needed
a lot of patience but this has been well worthwhile.
Willow
is a pure white cat with gentle blue eyes. He is very inquisitive and has to
investigate everything. He likes a lot of fuss and purrs sweetly.
Flora
is still fairly timid. She likes to be fussed.
She likes to search shelves for forgotten bits and bobs which she delights in
knocking onto the floor.
For fifteen years we had the great pleasure
of sharing our house with two wonderful cats, Merry and Pippin. Sadly, on
21.12.2000 Pippin succumbed to a serious illness. We miss him enormously. On
30.01.2001 Merry passed away after her battle against cancer.
Pippin
Pippin liked to sit on the doormat and look out at the garden. He
thought of the garden as his own, patrolled it regularly and liked to sleep out there in the
summer.
In October 2000 Pippin was diagnosed as being diabetic. Unfortunately there was
the complication of kidney failure which meant that despite his and our efforts he grew
very weak. We were lucky to have the total support of a professional and caring
veterinary surgeon. This meant Pippin was given every chance possible. We found the following

Merry
Merry's lovely tortoiseshell colouring shows well in this
photograph. She was a small cat who knew her own mind. She loved to look out of the window
and watch the world go by. She once rescued an injured racing pigeon, gently bringing it
in alive. It was later returned to its grateful owner. In October 2000 Merry
visited the vet, and we discovered how seriously ill she was. Until the last
week she tried hard to do all the things she was used to doing. She was very
determined.
