1880 Interior. Consecrated by Bishop Abrahams of Lichfield, 30th April 1880. ‘The visitor may be struck by the fact that much of the interior work is in terracotta, a baked hard brownish red pottery. The abundance of this pottery is due to the fact that one of the Church’s benefactors was C. Canning Esq. Of the firm Gibbs & Canning which produced terracotta at that time, who gave not only £150 but terracotta pottery tot he value of £100.’

1901. It is approached by 2 steps, access being through an arch of Gothic design, faced with glazed terra-cotta.…The terra-cotta was obtained from Messrs. Gibbs and Canning, Mr. A. V. Ingall of the firm of Messrs. Ingall and Sons, Birmingham, was the architect.
