Town
Hall interior by Waterhouse, Alfred
|
1868
Interior of buff and grey terracotta.
The
terracotta vaulting was comparable to that inside Hansom’s church
located little over a mile away, and was supplied by the same
manufacturer, Gibbs and Canning. The stylised ferns on the frieze and
the nailheads on the vaulting-ribs were similar to some motifs designed
for the Natural History Museum. (Terracotta Revivial)

|
Church
of the Holy Name of Jesus interior by Hanson, Joseph Aloysius
|
1869-71.
The cream colour of most of the terracotta is similar to that used on
the Albert Hall. Much of the decoration is made up of square shapes
which form a tile-like pattern. These are placed either in bands or in
blocks. The larger blocks of pattern are broken up by decorated
roundels.
