What are we like?
| Banchory is located on the A93,
eighteen miles west of Aberdeen and is a young, thriving community which
offers a wide range of social and recreational opportunities for all
ages. There is a relatively small percentage of children in our school from original Banchory families but happily all pupils, parents and staff appear to relate readily to one another despite, or more likely because of, the varied geographical backgrounds from which they come. Banchory Primary School is the only primary school serving the small commuter town of Banchory (population 7000) which has grown considerably during the past twenty years as a result of North Sea Oil development. The school formed a department of Banchory Academy until 1978. Its expansion began in the early 1970's with the influx of oil related industry to the North East of Scotland. The first phase of our present building was completed in 1972. The Nursery was built in 1981 but was not opened as a Nursery until 1989. An extension was added in 1982 The school is located on the same campus as the Banchory Academy Community Complex which offers clear advantages for the continuity of our pupils' social and academic development throughout their school lives which can commence at our pre-school Nursery stage. |

Staff and Curriculum Structure
Banchory Primary is a state school offering a typically broad based curriculum which follows the SOEID 5-14 curricular guidelines. We have a teaching staff of 29. The Management Team consists of Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and 3 Assistant Head Teachers. In addition to class teachers, Banchory Primary is supported by visiting specialist staff in Support for Learning, Art, Drama, Home Economics, Music and Physical Education. We are also fortunate in having the services of music instructors in piano, violin, woodwind, guitar and brass instruments.
Our Office administration is most ably carried out by one full-time and one part-time secretary. We share a janitorial team with Banchory Academy. Our team of four auxiliaries look after pupils at intervals and lunch breaks.
The School Canteen is managed by a cook and a team of five assistants. We are fortunate also in having an excellent Parent Helper Scheme in operation which offers us a variety of expertise in a range of activities.
