Sociology at Bryn Hafren school and the Barry Sixth Form

The Head of Department is Mrs Janis Griffiths, BA (hons), PGCE, M.Ed, Dip. Ed. Man, Cert Ed. Media.

She is a regular contributor of articles to Social Science Teacher and has published work on research and teaching methodologies in a wide number of other journals and academic publications including the TES, The Guardian and Managing Education Today.

She is co-author of Sociology texts for Hodder and Stoughton in the Access to Sociology series and also for Longman's Educational. Her most recent work is with Tanya Hope, and also Shaun Best: the new (2000) Active Sociology textbook for AS and A2 Sociology.

Mrs Griffiths is an examiner for GCSE Sociology with the Welsh Joint Education Committee and an executive member of the Association of Social Science Teachers.
