Careers Education and Guidance is an integral part of preparation of students for opportunities, responsibilities and achievement in life. The Careers Education programme will be delivered in a flexible learning modular form which is designed to encourage students to:- 1. develop decision-making skills; 2. be aware of opportunities available in education, training and careers; 3. manage the transition to new roles and situations; 4. develop skills which will enable them to adjust to and cope with new situations; 5. develop self awareness - assess personal qualities, attitude, values and potential - to promote a high degree of self esteem and achievement. Access to Information All students will have access to information about higher education, vocational and training opportunities, and the world of work. Materials will include computer software, CD ROMS, audio-visual and printed materials. Contact with people who have expertise in various areas will also be available. Work Experience Students will undertake a period of work experience appropriate to their particular course. Guidance The Careers Adviser and Careers co-ordinator will be available to give individual guidance to students. |
