Dear Portlethen

I hope you enjoyed your visit to Ballater Environmental Education Centre. We had a bit of a different week this time as we were working towards a John Muir Award. That involves doing some work when you get back to school. So I hope you gave my staff lots of attention, and when you get back get your thinking caps on and get your enthusiasm fired up.

This Week's Photo Gallery

On the way down As you can see, Mr. Hall is busy lagging behind. Just keeping an eye out for any photo opportunities.
Are the boys looking over the side of a large precipice? What do you think is down there? No... just down at the river to see if there are any fish. Oh! It's only a river.
Isn't the wilderness a tiring place to be? Wandering around in the wilderness can sometimes be hard work... here we are having a well deserved rest. Deer Hunter Hall This unusual angle is a shot of Mr. Hall taking a photograph of a deer footprint.
As part of this week the children were asked not to speak to anyone and keep as far away as possible from each other. Only joking! Being by yourself We did some really good, quiet, creative work as part of John Muir week. Michelle is busy making a sound map. Sound map recording
Kylie's very special place Kylie has found a very special place by the river where she can complete her John Muir booklet. Stephanie on a rock Stephanie takes a little time out to scratch her ear as she also completes her booklet.

Now Some Poetry

Electricity
Don't waste energy, don't be a fool
Turn off the lights and just stay cool
Pull out the plug when it's not in use
And then go and have a cool drink of juice
Empty rooms with light bulbs on
Switch them off when you are gone
Try to always check the meter
And sometimes just switch off the heater
Be bright sparks don't be fools
Just listen to these simple rules
Fishing for salmon
Interesting reflections
Shading from the sun
Hear the motion of the river
Icy cold water
Near the bank of the river
GOT A FISH!

This place is perfect
Every day
And will put your head's
Cares away
Even when you're having a bad day
Full of magical and
Unbelievable creatures
Let the experience take you away.

Well Gang

You were very lucky with the weather. It was so nice until Friday when it began to rain. All my staff have had a really good time and look forward to seeing you again sometime in the near future. Take care of yourselves.

Best wishes
