Courses
The programme of Residential Courses includes:-
- Upper Primary School
Courses - generally
interdisciplinary in nature, combining a broadly-based approach to
natural history fieldwork with a range os sensory awareness and
adventure activities. all the activities have their foundations in the
5-14 Guidelines.
- Upper Secondary School
Courses - these are specialist
fieldwork courses for senior pupils in Geography, Geology and Biology.
In each case, environmental education forms the basis of the teaching
methodology. Also offered are modules exploring topics such as
Environmental Monitoring and Alternative Technology.
- In-Service Training -
the emphasis here is open the development of personal skills and
environmental awareness, whilst at the same time promoting new teaching
methods and strategies designed to advance environmental education in
schools
- Adult Education Courses -
an increasingly important part of the weekend
programme at Ballater, with a range of Courses/Excursions which explore
the natural history of Deeside
- Conference Facilities -
the Centre is offered as a meeting place for groups and organizations
with an interest in the environment, and is an excellent venue for
environmental organisations wishing to hold small conferences.
- Day Courses - the
Centre now offers day Courses for Primary School pupils, particularly in
the Lower School. Programmes are tailored to suit individual needs, but
again, all are based on the 5-14 Curriculum Guidelines.
