Introduction / Welcome

At Blackfyne we believe in a positive system in which pupils' achievements are celebrated. We recognise each one of our pupils, as an individual with individual needs, interests and aptitudes. Each child is encouraged to reach his or her best in all the activities we offer.

We give the children many opportunities:

• Active and hard working lessons;
• Educational visits;
• Excellent sports provision; the quality of the sports provision at Blackfyne has been recognised by the award, to the school, of the English Sports Council Sportsmark Award "in recognition of an excellent programme of physical education and school sport."
• Links with the community and the world of work.

• County and National Mathematics Challenge Competitions;
• Consett Music Festival;
• District Sporting Competitions;
• Cooking Competitions;
• Book Writing Competitions and Book Publishing;
• Award of grants for environmental projects.

We seek to increase awareness of the world beyond school and to develop responsible attitudes towards other people, encouraging generosity, unselfishness and courtesy.

We are an open school. We welcome parental and community interest and involvement in what we do. It is our experience that children achieve more at school when they see parents and teachers sharing the same values and co-operating effectively.
