Welcome to Bishop Barrington, a school hailed by Ofsted as one of the top forty most improved educational establishments in the country. (Ofsted annual report 1999.)

As a school we are proud of our achievements. Recent external inspections have led to the following statements being made about us:

"I have seen teaching of a quality very rarely seen. I have been very impressed".

Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools during a visit to Bishop Barrington on 15th July 1997.

"It would be hard to find a better example of education success - everyone working together and putting children's interests first".

Mr. Keith Mitchell. County Durham's Director of Education.

Our aim at Bishop Barrington is to provide all pupils in our care with a desire and clear path to achieve academic success. We strive to reach our aim by creating a climate of high quality teaching, firm but fair discipline, below average class sizes and a caring pastoral system.

We view students and parents as our customers, and work hard to provide them with a first class service. Each and every pupil in our care is personally mentored to ensure that they reach their full potential.

We see our self as being not just a school in the community, but a school for the community.

Please spend some time looking over the information on our web site and its associated links. We always welcome contact with the community and would be happy to receive any comments or questions you may have.
