Bishop Barrington School tries to encourage an atmosphere of learning and to generate an enthusiasm of historical enquiry for pupils to be successful.

We bring history ALIVE! Our interactive approach to the topics we cover allows our pupils to experience what it was really like for those living before them. Using role play, micro teaching and a whole host of enjoyable activities, history is kept alive and kicking!

 Topics covered in each year group: 

Year 7 The Romans.  Medieval Realms
Year 8 The Tudors.  Stewarts.  Industrial Revolution
Year 9 The North American Indians.  World War I and II
Year 10 GCSE: 20th Century World
Year 11 GCSE: 20th Century World

Mrs. Metcalfe. Head of the History Department

Mrs. Metcalfe is enjoying her first year at Bishop Barrington where she teaches History and some PE. She has achieved a BA (Hons) studying at the Open University and a PGCE at Durham university.

Previous teaching schools include: Ferryhill Comprehensive and Blackfynne in Consett.

Hobbies include spending time with her children and wait for it....... reading History books!
