During the Summer term of 1999 we went to Beamish Open Air Museum as part of our history topic on homes. For the day we dressed up as children would have looked a long time ago. As part of the visit we took part in a role play session in the pit cottages.
This is what we did:
We washed the clothes using a poss stick and tub. |
We beat the carpets to get them clean.

We black leaded the pans to make the shine.
|
We wrote on the slates and not paper in the school. |
It was very tiring. |
But great fun. |
