Bonnybridge and the River Bonny During the first world war, 1914-18, no less than 800 men from Bonnybridge had gone off to fight. By the end of the war 200 of these men had sacrificed their lives in battle. There is a war memorial, formed in 1919 in their honour, nearby the River Bonny. After the Second World War, 1939-45, where 50 men lost their lives in battle, the memorial was updated to remember their sacrifice. |
