Nursery Class Policy

Bonnybridge Primary School works to implement Falkirk Council's 0-8 Curriculum Guidelines within available resources and endorses the "Curriculum Framework for Children 3 to 5" document produced by the Scottish Office and published in 1999.

"Before Five" - Report by the Scottish Education Department states that:-

'It is the role of the nursery school teacher to provide a pleasant and colourful environment within which she creates situations which will be of interest and benefit to the child and which will assist his progression in physical and manipulative skills, auditory and visual discrimination, language concept formation and social attitudes.'

In Bonnybridge Nursery we set out to provide such an environment.

Why is a Policy important?

A policy should be a working document which is user-friendly and helpful to all staff in the setting enabling them to do their jobs effectively.

It should provide a framework in which the team can work, but should not be totally prescriptive - it is a guide which should express what we're all working towards.
