Falkirk Council's Community and Citizen Development Group approves and supports a dress code in all its schools.

What are the benefits of school uniform?

The wearing of a uniform contributes to the positive ethos of the school, avoids discrimination and reduces the wearing of expensive 'designer' clothing.  Our school dress code also supports the Council's and the School's policies on Equal Opportunity, Anti-Bullying and Positive Behaviour.  We seek to make all pupils feel included.

In addition, our school security is improved by making intruders more easily identified.  Also the standing and reputation of our school in the community will be enhanced by the smart business-like way our pupils are dressed.

What standards of dress are expected?

While it is true that wearing school uniform is not compulsory this does not imply that any type of clothing may be worn.   We insist on an acceptable dress standard from pupils attending this school.  Safety is of paramount importance so appropriate clothing must be worn for specified activities e.g. P.E.   Offensive clothing is banned i.e. items decorated with obscene language or illustrations.  Football strips are also banned as they can lead to incidents of rivalry.  The only time this is relaxed is during football practices when they occur after school.   Although wearing our dress code is a voluntary agreement entered into by pupils, parents and school staff there will be mandatory instructions with regard to safety issues e.g. jewellery must be removed or covered during P.E. lessons.

Our Dress Code (Uniform)

Our Dress Code has been discussed and agreed with the School Board and ensures that there is no discrimination e.g. girls can wear trousers if they wish - and takes account of cultural and religious dress customs. We sell many items of our uniform at the lowest possible prices and we believe they represent excellent value for money.

The following items of uniform are available to buy in school:

red sweatshirt with logo, white poloshirt with logo, red or black fleece, school tie,

school badge, backpack  and gym bag.

The following items of school uniform can be bought from any department store:

black/grey 'school' trousers or skirt, black 'school' shoes, black blazer and red checked (gingham) school dress.

For P.E. a plain t-shirt and shorts and gym shoes are required.  The school polo shirt is ideal.  On school outings uniform should always be worn unless otherwise requested.

Our Nursery class pupils may wear, if they wish, a red sweatshirt  and white polo shirt with their own badge and black joggers.  All garments are available from the school office.
