Nursery Class Policy

Excursions

Taking the children on an outing where transport is used, it will be our policy to:

  • plan our outings to relate to children's needs

  • ensure outings are educational, allow children scope for freedom of movement and 'fun'.

  • establish selected venue is suitable for pre-school children and confirm early booking. Ensure venue staff will be available to aid and  inform where this is appropriate e.g. Country Park - Park Ranger

  • ensure written permission is sought from parent/guardian of each child

  • operate on a ratio of one adult to four children - 1:4

  • have in our possession a list of all adults and children in the party

  • ensure children are NOT identifiable by name badges

  • have adequate first aid equipment on hand and ensure all 'helpers' are adults and familiar with accident and safety procedures.

  • ensure a member of staff is carrying a mobile phone.

Accident Procedure on outing:

In the event of an accident out with the nursery the following steps will be taken -

  • seek medical attention

  • contact school - school will contact parent(s)

  • ensure teacher stays with remaining children while nursery nurse accompanies accident victim if necessary.
