Nursery Class Policy

Liaison

Partnership with parents and/or the extended family are of paramount importance in the nursery.

Our aim is to encourage parents to take an active interest in the day to day running of the nursery and in so doing form strong links between nursery and home.

We will achieve this by:

  • inviting parents to an annual workshop evening

  • consulting with parents as much as possible and gathering as much useful information as possible before entry to the nursery

  • inviting parents to assist in aspects of the nursery day - on a rota basis

  • inviting parents to become involved in special events in the nursery

  • inviting parents to assist on nursery outings.

  • involving support personnel from Early Intervention Programme

All of the above would be arranged at a time that was mutually convenient and complimentary to the routine of the nursery day.

  • Liaison with P.1 staff will occur informally and also on arranged dates within planned activities.  As resources allow 'teacher exchanges' will be made between Nursery and P.1 classrooms.

  • Other agencies e.g. psychological service, speech therapist, pre-school teacher, health visitor, social work etc. are regularly involved.

  • Groups within local area such as playgroup, other nurseries library etc. are involved with  our nursery class.
